Make your energy bills easier to manage
BudgetWise® Billing controls the seasonal ups and downs of your energy bills by spreading your annual charges more evenly over a 12-month period.
How it works
We review the energy usage at your current address for the previous 12 months and use current energy prices to calculate your budget amount. We bill you approximately this amount for the next 12 months. Your budget amount will be reviewed quarterly and could be adjusted up or down if there is a significant difference between the budget amount and your actual usage. The 12th month is your settlement month and we will notify you of the difference between the energy you used and the amount you have paid.
- If you used more energy than you paid for, the amount owed will be divided by 12 and added to your new budget plan amount for the next 12 months.
- If you’ve used less energy than you paid for, the credit amount will be divided by 12 and used to reduce your budget plan amount for the next 12 months.
- During your settlement month you will always be given the option to pay any balance in full, receive a full refund of the credit amount, or apply the credit amount to your next bill instead of spreading it over the next year.
Benefits of BudgetWise® Billing
- It’s free. For the ultimate in billing payment convenience, you can combine BudgetWise® Billing with eBill paperless billing and Automatic Payment.
- You will receive greater flexibility to pay your bill at a time that is convenient for you. The normal due date still prints on your bill, but BudgetWise® Billing participants are allowed to pay their bill anytime throughout the month – no late payment fees, no collection calls and no negative credit reporting.
- If you are struggling to pay your current bill and it is not yet past due, you have the option of rolling that bill into your budget. This amount will be divided by 12 and added to your budget payment to allow you to pay it over the next 12 months. (This option is available at enrollment and it is a one-time offer.)
Getting the most out of BudgetWise® Billing
- Weather, usage fluctuations and price all impact your bill. Keep track of your actual account balance on every bill. Contact us if you feel your actual account balance is becoming too high so we can adjust your budget accordingly.
- Read your bill messages every month. This is how we communicate important information regarding your budget.
To enroll, your account must not have any past due balances and cannot be enrolled in any other payment plans.
While your account remains in good standing, you can remain on the program as long as you like. If you have two consecutive non-payments, you will be removed from the BudgetWise® Billing program and the full account balance will be due at that time.
