Fueling natural gas vehicles (NGVs) can be completed in a matter of minutes, just like their gasoline-powered counterparts.
Today, there are about 1,000 natural gas refueling stations in the continental United States, including 13 public stations in the lower half of Michigan. The number of refueling stations will continue to grow as NGV use expands.
What is involved in refueling NGVs?
Refueling an NGV is easy – you simply attach a nozzle to your vehicle. In fact, NGV refueling is safer and more environmentally friendly than refueling other vehicles because there is no worry about fumes or spilling toxic liquids like gasoline, diesel, methanol or ethanol.
DTE Energy currently owns and operates 11 natural gas refueling stations in the lower half of Michigan. Most are in the Detroit area, and nearly all are available for public use. Three are conveniently located at Meijer stores. We will continue to assess the feasibility of developing additional refueling stations as NGV use grows.
Are you a smart phone user? Both iPhone and Android Apps are available from www.drivealternatives.com to help you find compressed natural gas (CNG) stations locally and nationwide.
