Common Area Improvements
You can lower your energy bills and protect the environment by taking advantage of energy-efficient upgrades at a fraction of the investment cost. For only 15 to 35 percent co-pay, you can make lighting improvements in the common areas of your multifamily building. The amount of the co-pay will be based on the operating hours of the lighting. Energy efficient upgrades include:
- High Performance T5 and T8 lighting retrofits
- Hard wired CFL Fixtures
- LED Exit Signs
- Lighting controls and sensors
- Parking lot and safety lighting
In-Unit Improvements
As part of this program, in-unit incentives for residents of your multifamily building can benefit from FREE installation of energy-efficient natural gas and electric upgrades that save energy and water. Energy efficiency improvements include the following measures:
- ENERGY STAR® compact fluorescent light bulbs (CFLs), which use up to 75% less energy than incandescents
- Low-flow showerheads*
- Kitchen and bathroom faucet aerators*
- Pipe wrap insulation*
- Programmable thermostats*
How to participate:
This program is available to DTE Energy customers in multifamily buildings or complexes consisting of five or more units per building. To qualify for electric lighting incentives, your multifamily units must be served by Detroit Edison. To qualify for incentives marked with an asterisk (*) you must be a Detroit Edison or MichCon customer.
