Whole Building Design Incentives 

The Whole Building Approach offers building owners constructing nonresidential projects a comprehensive approach to energy efficiency enhancements and high performance building design. Whether constructing a new building, expanding an existing building, changing the use of a space, or adding new load, our program can help you reduce your total building energy consumption.

For projects that are in the design phases, you can take advantage of Whole Building Incentives. Projects that demonstrate energy efficiency savings following the performance rating method from the ASHRAE 90.1-2007 energy standard may be eligible for incentives based on the simulated annual energy savings.

These financial incentives encourage building owners, architects and engineers to out-perform current energy standards in building envelope, lighting and mechanical systems for new construction and major renovation projects.  Incentives can be reserved for up to 18 months.

Within the Whole Building Approach is an option for projects to receive Technical Assistance Incentives to help pay for your energy model.  These Incentives cover 50% of the cost of energy modeling up to $3,000 and are paid as follows:

• Half of the incentive is paid upon reservation of the project
• Final payment is given after the installation of the measures applied for

Systems Approach Incentives

The Systems Approach is ideal for smaller, less complex projects for which modeling is not being performed and those that are further along in the design process where only minor design changes can be made. Pre-determined incentives are offered to optimize the energy efficiency of specific equipment: Lighting, HVAC, Process Electric and Gas Water Heating.  Incentives can be reserved for up to 18 months.
