It's not always possible for school districts to fund extensive energy-related projects or for educators to research the most up-to-date material about energy and the environment. That's why we offer the following resources to educators:
| Freshwater Institute For Teachers | 231.995.1722
(The Great Lakes Water Studies Institute) |
| Northwestern Michigan College's Great Lakes Water Studies Institute sponsors the DTE Energy Freshwater Institute for Teachers, an exciting learning opportunity for secondary science educators (grades 7 -12). The workshop focuses on water resources and watershed management, instructional strategies that promote inquiry-based teaching and learning, and the development of community-based projects. | Energy and Our World Teacher Mini-Grants | 313.235.7012 |
| Sponsored by the DTE Energy Foundation, these mini-grants support energy-related projects that help students maintain their curiosity and excitement about math, science, energy and the environment. The grant offers resources for those hands-on, energy-related projects that school budgets typically cannot afford to fund. Grants typically range from $50-$250, but proposals may be funded for more. All K-12 teachers employed within the DTE Energy service territory may apply. Grants are open to public, non-public and charter schools. Proposals are solicited each fall and grants awarded early in the next calendar year. Check back for additional information in Fall 2008. |
