A decade ago, DTE Energy embarked upon a massive project to install new emissions control systems at the Monroe Power Plant. As part of that project, two new stacks have been built to replace the original 800-foot exhaust stacks. New stacks are required because of the moisture that is added to the exhaust by the new emissions reduction process.
