We, the employees of MichCon and its DTE Energy Partners, are committed to the safe supply and distribution of clean burning natural gas for home and industry.

Environmental Policy Detail
Highlights: Seeking certification as a corporate Wildlife Habitat Council site. Melvindale school children made bird boxes at the site and a patch of wild prairie grass has been planted as part of their Green team program. ISO 14001 certified since 2007.
Highlights: Certified as a corporate wildlife habitat by the Wildlife Habitat Council since 1996 - Belle River Power Plant is the certified habitat on the St. Clair River Waterways for Wildlife Project. By naturalizing plant property and installing nest boxes for bluebirds, mallards and wood ducks, the BRPP is now home to many species of plants and animals. ISO 14001 certified 2002.

Belle River Power Plant is a fossil-fueled electricity producer: We strive to operate efficiently, with a commitment to continual improvement, prevention of pollution, and compliance with regulatory and other applicable requirements.

Belle River Mills and Columbus Compressor Stations
Highlights: This site is seeking certification as a corporate Wildlife Habitat Council site. The facility Green Team has placed bluebird and bat boxes at the site and has hosted wildlife presentations for local children featuring bats and raptors. ISO 14001 certified 2007.
Highlights: Conners Creek Power Plant is a natural gas-fueled plant located in Detroit. The plant is a cycling power plant, operated seasonally to provide power during periods of high demand.

- Protecting the environment

Environmental Management & Resources (EM&R), working with DTE Energy management, businesses, government, community and other opinion leaders, will provide practical environmental solutions that ensure compliance. minimize liability, improve effectiveness of existing and future assets, enhance the company's image and influence and support corporate direction.
Environmental Policy
EM&R provides environmental direction and services to DTE Energy in accordance with DTE Energy core values and the EM&R vision and mission. We are committed to:
- Create and maintain DTE Energy's focus on compliance with regulatory and corporate requirements and environmental enhancement beyond compliance,
- Lead and influence development and implementation of environmental laws and regulations that are based on good science,
- Influence DTE Energy organizations in engaging in pollution identification, control, reduction and, prevention,
- Identify, manage and minimize risks and liabilities to and from the environment, and
- Continually improve how we deliver these services through a strong customer focus and the use of objectives, targets and projects.

Highlights: Recognized by the State of Michigan as a Clean Corporate Citizen since 2000. Certified as a wildlife site by the Wildlife Habitat Council since 2000. The Fermi 2 grounds are the largest parcel in the Detroit River International Wildlife Refuge, a cooperative agreement with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service that will protect and manage the wildlife and fish populations on Fermi 2 grounds.

As the electricity provider of choice, a provider of a clean source of energy, and as residents of this community, we, the employees of Fermi 2, take our role in protecting and enhancing the environment very seriously. We are proud of our environmental performance.

The Peaking Unit Organization maintains the combustion turbines and diesel engines used to provide peak power as well as black start capability.

The Peaking Unit Organization manages equipment maintenance and asset preservation for 21 sites at 19 locations by providing peak power, black start and electrical system security.

The site is the winter home to a pair of peregrine falcons. The plant Green Team is installing bluebird boxes and raptor perches, planting a butterfly garden and building brush piles for wildlife habitat. ISO 14001 certified 2003

Highlights: Certified as a corporate wildlife habitat by the Wildlife Habitat Council since 2002. The plant has installed a butterfly garden as a rest stop for users of the Downriver Linked Greenways path, which the plant co-sponsors. ISO 14001 certified 2001
