Pre-Pay...the new pay as you go energy plan!
If you’re looking for more control over your energy use and your household budget and you have a Smart Meter, Pre-Pay may be for you.
Buy electricity when you want, in the amount you want.
Instead of waiting until the end of the month to find out how much electricity you have used and what you owe, you will know how many days of electricity usage you have left based upon your current prepaid dollar amount.
- You choose the amount you want to pre-pay (for instance, $10, $25, $50) and when to pay it (monthly, weekly or as needed).
- We’ll keep track of how much energy you use and alert you by email and by text message or phone when your account balance is running low.
- You will no longer receive a paper bill. You will never pay a late charge. And, you will not be charged costly reconnect fees if your account runs out of credit.
Can Pre-Pay help me reduce my energy bills?
Through your smart meter DTE Energy is able to provide constantly updated information about your energy use. Each day, your smart meter reads your usage and provides that data online for your review.
Simply sign in to your dteenergy.com account, open the Bill Analyzer link and look at the Load Data graph in the right column.
Now, you’ll be able to make informed decisions about your energy use right away. By knowing how much energy your household is using and when, you can better budget for your electricity prepayments.
