Pre-Pay is a program offered by DTE Energy that allows you to manage your budget and energy use by paying for electricity before, instead of after, you use it.
To be eligible for Pre-Pay you MUST have an AMI Electric Meter, be registered in Customer Service Online (CSO) and be billed for electric service only on your account.
You CANNOT receive a bill that is combined with the following:
-
- Michcon Gas Services
- Detroit Edison Interruptible Space Conditioning (Heat Pump, Space Heating, Air Conditioning)
- Detroit Edison Interruptible Water Heating
- Detroit Edison Outdoor Protect Lighting (OPL)
You CANNOT have any of the following products on your electric billing:
-
- BudgetWise Billing®
- GreenCurrents®
- Home Protection Plus®
- Automatic Payment Plan
- Senior Profile
- Winter Protection Plan (WPP)
- Shut Off Protection Plan (SPP)
- You must enroll in eBill to view and pay your account (see separate Terms & Conditions that apply)
- If you enroll in Pre-Pay and later decide to enroll in any of the above-mentioned products or services, you will have to unenroll from Pre-Pay.
- You must provide DTE Energy with a minimum of two ways to communicate with you – email address (required) and a phone number or text message account. See separate Terms and Conditions for text messaging. DTE Energy will notify you by email and by your second preferred communication method when the credit amount on your account is estimated to be equal to 10 days or less of your average electricity use. Please note that this is just an estimate based on average usage at your location. The credit amount remaining will be based on your actual usage for that day; therefore, the credit could be used in less than estimated days remaining.
- You are required to maintain a positive (credit) balance on your account at all times. Failure to do so will result in interruption of your service. A service shutoff can occur Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM, excluding DTE Energy-observed holidays. Service may be restored by calling 800.477.4747 and making a payment that covers your past due balance and the estimated equivalent of 10 days of your average electricity use.
- You may unenroll from Pre-Pay at anytime by signing in at dteenergy.com, selecting the Pre-Pay status link on your My Account screen and then selecting the Pre-Pay unenroll button on your account status screen. Once you have unenrolled from Pre-Pay you will receive a monthly eBill paperless billing. In the event you wish to cancel eBill paperless billing you, may do so online.
