A home energy audit is the first step to determine how much energy your house uses and what improvements you should make to save money and energy.

Home energy audits can:

pinpoint where your house is losing energy
determine the efficiency of your heating and cooling systems
show you ways to use less energy
identify which improvements will save you the most money

Home Energy Audit Offers

DTE Energy offers three ways for you to learn about the energy management opportunities in your home. Each energy audit will help you identify easy to install measures to help reduce your energy use and control your energy costs.

Option 1
Perform a free online audit using MyEnergy Analyzer.
To participate, go to MyEnergy Analyzer and develop your own personalized plan to begin saving energy in your home today!
Option 2
The Home Energy Consultation (HEC) program is an in-home energy consultation that will provide you with an energy assessment of your home. It includes the installation of energy efficient items such as compact fluorescent light bulbs, water heater pipe insulation, water saving shower heads and faucet aerators (items may vary).

In addition, you will receive a list of actions that you can implement in both the short- and long- term to save energy year-round. Trained energy consultants will provide you with the information you need to save energy and save money.

Option 3
For customers who want to maximize their home's energy efficiency, we offer the Home Performance Program. This whole house approach uses a comprehensive home energy assessment to determine how improvements throughout a house can work together to increase comfort and significantly reduce energy use.

Higher and multiple rebates are offered for a variety of upgrades, which means you will save now on qualifying home improvements and continue to save through lower energy costs, up to 20 percent, for years to come. Rebates are available for upgrades including: air sealing, insulation measures, window replacement and HVAC equipment measures. Customers who perform multiple improvements are eligible for bonus incentives based on the number of qualifying upgrades installed.
