What is Whole Home Performance?
Whole Home Performance is achieved when all of your home’s systems (e.g. furnace, insulation, windows, ventilation, etc.) are working together to help you maximize comfort and energy efficiency. As many of us already know, sometimes our homes don’t perform quite as well as they should resulting in hot or cold rooms and wasted energy. At DTE Energy, we believe that by taking a whole home approach, which starts with a comprehensive Whole-Home Assessment, you can make your home operate at peak performance resulting in reduced energy use and improved comfort.
How Does the Whole Home Performance Program Work?
To offer this program, we have teamed up with WellHome, a Masco company, to help deliver real energy savings to our customers. Here’s how it works:
- It starts with you scheduling a $149 Whole-Home Assessment which is fully refundable if improvement measures are installed.
- After you’ve scheduled your whole-home assessment, a Building Performance Institute-certified WellHome Advisor will come to your home and perform detailed diagnostic tests using state-of-the-art equipment including a blower door to detect air leakage, an infrared thermal imaging camera to evaluate insulation effectiveness, and a combustion analyzer to evaluate how your gas appliances are performing.
- After your assessment, your WellHome Advisor will schedule a follow-up visit with you to present a customized report including your home’s energy modeling analysis, a review of photos and test results, and detailed recommendations on how you can improve your home’s comfort and energy efficiency.
- If you choose to move forward with qualified energy saving improvements, the WellHome team or one of their selected service providers will perform the installations you choose, from insulation and air & duct tightening to windows and heating & cooling systems.
