DTE Energy appoints Patrick Lee as vice president and chief tax officer

DETROIT, March. 30, 2021 — DTE Energy (NYSE: DTE) announced the appointment of Patrick Lee as vice president and chief tax officer, effective March 29, 2021.

Lee will be responsible for leading all tax matters affecting DTE Energy, including federal, state and local tax planning and filing, regulatory matters, acquisitions and divestitures. 

“Patrick’s background and proven expertise will help us continue to successfully navigate evolving tax and energy policies,” said JoAnn Chavez, senior vice president and chief legal officer. “His business acumen will benefit the customers and communities we serve.”

Lee joined DTE in 2010 as a general attorney. In his 10+ years at DTE, he has served in multiple leadership positions, including chief tax officer and director of tax planning. Prior to joining DTE, he worked in the mergers and acquisition practice of EY and for a national law firm based in Detroit. He also served as an attorney-adviser to the US Tax Court in Washington D.C.

Lee graduated with a Juris Doctorate degree, with honors, from Case Western University, and received a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Michigan, Dearborn.

Outside of DTE, Lee is an active member of the taxation committees of the Edison Electric Institute and the American Gas Association. He also belongs to the Michigan Manufacturing Association and the Michigan Chamber of Commerce tax sections.
