DTE Energy invites the public to participate in clean energy planning

Public invited to open house on Jan. 18 to discuss company’s CleanVision Plan

DETROIT, Jan. 5, 2022 – DTE Electric, Michigan’s largest energy company, is offering the public an opportunity to learn about the company’s energy planning process and provide input on the company’s long-term plans to transform its mix of generation sources to ensure the reliable, affordable and clean energy that will power Michigan’s future.

The first in a series of Integrated Resource Plan (IRP) public open houses will be held virtually on Tuesday, January 18. This open house will allow community members the opportunity to ask questions and provide comments about how DTE plans to meet Michigan’s future energy needs in advance of the IRP filing with the Michigan Public Service Commission in October 2022. At this first meeting, DTE will introduce the public open house process, provide an overview of the IRP process and DTE Electric’s CleanVision Plan to date, and will also seek feedback from participants on topics and areas of interest for future meetings.

“DTE is committed to achieving net zero carbon and greenhouse gas emissions by 2050, so it is imperative that we carve the right path forward,” said Trevor Lauer, president and COO, DTE Electric. “Getting our customers’ input early in the process ensures what matters most to them is taken into consideration as we work to achieve the right balance of energy sources that will provide cleaner, affordable, reliable and secure power to our 2.2 million customers for decades to come.”
