Whether you’re planning a major renovation or a new building, we provide expert insight and energy-saving rebates for DTE commercial customers. To ensure you qualify for rebates to defray costs and for smooth project implementation, include us in your early planning. Please call the DTE Energy Efficiency Program for Business at (866) 796-0512 and select option 3 to speak directly with an Energy Advisor or get started by emailing us at dtesaveenergy@dnv.com.
There are two New Construction and Major Renovations rebate programs to consider, depending on the complexity and timing of your project:
- Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design (LEED) Whole Building Design Incentives offers a comprehensive approach to commercial building energy-efficiency improvements and high-performance projects.
- Systems Approach Incentives offers an alternative to pursuing LEED certification.
How it Works

Your Energy Advisor will review your project goals and recommend equipment and available rebates.

Your Options
LEED Design Review Assistance
LEED Design Review Assistance allows you to receive a one-time $1,500 rebate to help pay for LEED certification. The program is based on the following levels of certification:
- New building projects where no structure or site footprint exists
- Additions or expansions of existing buildings or site footprints
- Major tenant improvements that alter the use of the space or add new load
If you choose to pursue LEED Certification on a new building, DTE will pay rebates based on plan-modeled energy savings and level of certification achieved –Silver, Gold or Platinum.

Systems Approach
Systems Approach is better suited to less complex projects and those with systems designed at different times or when energy efficiency occurs later. Predetermined rebates are available in several categories:
- Lighting power density
- HVAC (gas and electric)
- Process electric
