Flexible Due Date is a free service that allows you to schedule the due date of your DTE Energy bill each month.

Several factors could cause your bill to be higher or lower than usual. These include:

  • Number of days in the billing cycle – Fewer days in the billing cycle typically results in a lower energy bill, compared to a billing cycle with more days.
  • Extreme temperature months – During a hot summer or cold winter you tend to use more energy with your air conditioning or heating units.
  • Household changes – Any adjustment to your thermostat, the number of people living in your home, lights left on for long periods of time and doors frequently opening/closing affect overall energy usage.
  • System or equipment failure – Appliances like your refrigerator, freezer, washer, dryer, computer or even television could be running more often than usual. Overheating can also impact your energy usage.

If you suspect you are the target of an energy scam, contact us immediately at 800.477.4747 or sign in to your account to confirm any online activity. Do not hand out any money or provide credit card information. Anyone suspecting foul play should contact local police immediately.

Use these tips to spot an energy scammer and know if you’re talking to a DTE employee.
