Retro-Commissioning Program

Retro-Commissioning Program

Reduce your operating costs while increasing system efficiency.

Managing your building’s energy use doesn’t have to be complicated. We work with you through the DTE Retro-Commissioning Program (RCx) to provide cost-effective, highly customized solutions based on your building’s specific needs. RCx offers valuable expertise and incentives to offset improvement costs, saving you energy and money.

The Retro-Commissioning Program includes an Express Track and a more detailed Standard Track. Our team will help you identify the track that’s best suited for you. Read the program overview.

Program Benefits

RCx can help you:

  • Lower your energy and maintenance spending.
  • Overcome building changes to create a more comfortable and productive work environment.
  • Reduce equipment wear and tear to maintain continued performance.

Retro-Commissioning Program

Retro-Commissioning Program

Standard Track

Commercial and industrial DTE customers can save money, reduce operating costs and improve their building’s performance through the RCx Program. You’ll receive a detailed assessment of your building’s systems with an investigative retro-commissioning study fully funded by DTE Energy (an $80K value).

What does the Standard Track offer?

The RCx Standard Track looks for these optimization opportunities and more:

  • Scheduling updates to ensure equipment and lighting are operating only when needed
  • Economizer controls
  • Supply air temperature and fan speed
  • Chiller and boiler operations to match building load conditions
  • Process cooling and heating

About the Program

Eligibility Requirements

Commercial and industrial DTE customers are eligible for the program. Selection criteria for participating include:

  • An annual electric energy consumption of greater than 5,000,000 kWh
  • A controls system that can schedule units on/off, make adjustments and (if possible) adjust operational parameters from an operator interface
  • A minimum commitment of $10,000 to implement the energy efficiency improvements identified in the study, with a combined estimated simple payback of 18 months or less

How It Works

Our experience team determines if your building qualifies for the RCx Program and assists you with the necessary documents. You’ll then follow a three-step process:

Investigation

Our energy engineers assess your building systems to identify energy-saving improvements and implementation cost estimates. You choose the improvements you want to make.

Implementation

Your optimization selections are put into action.

Verification

We collect documentation for the implemented improvements to verify your energy savings.

Our team provides details of your year-over-year energy and cost savings. You’ll also receive a rebate for the successful completion of the project.
