Heating accounts for about 32% of energy use in U.S. commercial buildings, making it the single largest energy use driver. High-efficiency boilers, furnaces, rooftop units and controls can reduce energy waste while improving occupant comfort, system reliability and building performance.
Limited time offer: In addition to the standard rebate get an extra 25% rebate on eligible long-life heating products. Now Through Nov. 30. Funding is limited, so don't wait.

DTE commercial and industrial customers in good standing are eligible for heating rebates. If you’re applying for gas heating rebates, you must be a DTE natural gas customer. If applying for electric HVAC measures, you must be a DTE electric customer. Customers in multifamily buildings or residential complexes are not eligible for this program but can participate in the DTE Multifamily Program.
Yes, select heating measures are eligible for new construction projects. Heating rebates are available for both retrofit and new construction projects that use natural gas as the primary fuel source.
Not all equipment qualifies. Replacement boilers must be modulating with a minimum 5:1 turndown ratio, be of the sealed combustion type and must not be purchased for backup or redundancy. Furnaces must be 92% AFUE or greater, sealed combustion and used exclusively for space heating. All HVAC equipment must be AHRI-rated. See the Program Rebate Catalog for more information.
Complete the online rebate application and include all required documentation. You’ll need itemized invoices and manufacturers’ specification sheets for all equipment installed. Steam trap projects also require a service report documenting the repair work.
A reservation application is strongly encouraged for all heating projects and is required before starting any custom project. A reservation pre-approves your rebate amount and holds funding from DTE’s limited rebate pool. Starting your project before receiving your reservation letter could disqualify you from receiving a rebate.
A reservation is required for all custom heating measures. A reservation is strongly encouraged for all other heating projects, even when not required. Since rebate funds are limited and awarded on a first-come, first-served basis, submitting a reservation early helps ensure funding is available for your project.
Submit your reservation application online before any work begins, including removing old equipment. DTE has up to 14 days to conduct any required pre-upgrade inspections. Once approved, you'll receive a reservation letter confirming your funds are held. From there, you have 90 days to complete your project or until November 30, 2026.
Submit your application online along with required documentation including itemized invoices and manufacturers' specification sheets. You're not required to use a participating contractor to complete your project.
Your final application must be submitted within 60 days of project completion or by November 30, 2026 — whichever comes first. If you received a reservation, your project must be completed within 90 days of your reservation letter or by November 30, 2026.
Yes, you can apply for multiple energy efficiency upgrades in a single application, and electric and gas rebates can be combined if you’re a DTE customer for both. Check the rebate catalog or contact a DTE Energy Advisor to confirm which upgrades can be combined for your specific project.
