On May 7, 2018 DTE Electric issued $525 million of Green Bonds (2018 Series A 4.05% General and Refunding Bonds due 2048), the first investment-grade energy company in Michigan and the fifth nationwide by an investment-grade energy company to issue a green bond.

Below you can see the specific Eligible Green Projects to which DTE Electric has allocated the green bond proceeds ($518 million), the environmental benefits of those projects and DTE Electric’s management assertion letter together with the independent accountants’ attestation report.

  • In 2016, DTE Electric’s EWR Program resulted in total verified net electric savings of 630,920 megawatt hours (MWh) or 1.31% of 2015 planned retail sales, as compared to the minimum legislative requirement of 481,029 megawatt hours (MWh). 70% of the total 2016 verified net electric savings is 440,473 megawatt hours (MWh).
  • In 2017, DTE Electric’s EWR Program resulted in total verified net electric savings of 761,630 megawatt hours (MWh) or 1.57% of 2016 planned retail sales, as compared to the minimum legislative requirement of 485,469 megawatt hours (MWh). 77% of the total 2017 verified net electric savings is 588,535 megawatt hours (MWh).
