Charger Rebates

On-Route Charging

Up to $50,000 per 150 kW charger

Up to $70,000 per 150 kW charger

Eligibility Requirements

On-Route Public DC Fast Charger Rebate

To be eligible, you must:

  • Have an active DTE electric business account that is in good standing and up to date on payments.
  • Be located on route (within a mile of a major throughway exit) and publicly accessible.
  • Be located more than two miles from an existing fast charging site or a site with an approved rebate application.
  • Have the right to install, own, operate and maintain EV supply equipment on the project site, which must be located in DTE’s electric service territory.

You must also agree to:

  • Maintain new EV supply equipment for at least 5 years.
  • Install a separate meter to power the equipment.
  • Keep each installed charger available and operational 97% of the time.

Rural or Disadvantaged Public DC Fast Charger Rebate

To be eligible, you must meet the requirements of the On-Route Public DC Fast Charger Rebate and one of the following requirements:

  • The location has a score of 75 or greater on the screening tool.
  • The location is outside a major urban area as defined by the U.S. Department of Transportation and has a population of fewer than 50,000.

Steps to Apply

You will receive an email confirming that your application was submitted. DTE then reviews your application and sends an approval or rejection email or follow-up questions to you.

Note: If your charger installation is dependent on receiving an EV Charger Rebate, do not proceed to Step 5 until you’ve received formal approval from DTE.
