By using natural gas to provide temporary heat, builders can work faster and keep the construction site warm to cure concrete, dry paint, thaw frozen ground and stay on schedule. Switching to natural gas can save up to 50 percent over propane heat.

Check Service Area                                                

The Michigan Public Service Commission maintains a list of all electric and natural gas utilities registered in the state of Michigan.

To determine if DTE Energy provides natural gas service at your location, the MPSC offers an online search feature.

Apply for service                                                 

Contact DTE Energy to have a service line installed. Allow at least four weeks for a residential installation and six weeks for a commercial installation.

Prepare for service                                               

A site is “ready for service” when:

  • The site is within six inches of final grade
  • Service path from the street to the meter location is clear of obstructions
  • The meter location is clearly marked.

Your meter will be set soon after installation or, if eligible, you will be able to use our Express Set process.

Natural gas heaters are available for rental from many equipment supply houses.
