Refrigeration
Refrigeration equipment runs around the clock, making it a big energy draw. Rebates on motor upgrades, display case doors and smart controls make it easy to run more efficiently.
Lighting
LED lighting uses up to 90% less energy and lasts up to 25x longer, which reduces your maintenance costs. LEDs also generate less heat, which is especially important in the cold areas of your store.
HVAC
Heating and cooling your store is a major expense. Rebates on high-efficiency systems, heat pumps and occupancy controls can help reduce energy use and keep your shoppers comfortable year-round.

Grocery stores that are DTE electric or gas customers in good standing are eligible for rebates. Your project must be installed at a DTE-served facility, with one application per location. New construction projects are also eligible for select measures.
If you've installed upgrades yourself, you can apply online. You can also work with a participating contractor, who can install upgrades and submit an application on your behalf. Your application needs to include itemized invoices and manufacturers' specification sheets for all equipment installed. Once your final application is approved, you can expect your rebate check within four to six weeks.
For most projects, yes — and the sooner the better. A reservation application is required before starting any custom projects and some prescriptive ones, and it's strongly encouraged for all others. Reserving your spot early protects your rebate since funds are limited. Once you receive your reservation letter, you have 90 days to complete your project or until Nov. 30, 2026, whichever comes first.
No. You're not required to use a participating contractor to complete your project. But participating contractors are familiar with the program and can help ensure your equipment meets the specifications needed to qualify. You can find one using our searchable directory of participating contractors.
There's no cost to apply. Rebates are paid back to you after your project is complete and your final application is approved — reducing what you spent on the upgrade. The amount you receive depends on the equipment you install and the efficiency improvements it delivers.
Yes. Flexible financing options are available to help cover the cost of approved upgrades. You can choose short-term financing as low as 0% APR or long-term options up to 25 years with no upfront costs. Many businesses use rebates and financing together. Rebates lower the total cost and financing spreads out the rest.
